Introduction to Smart Cities and Digital Transformation: Smart Cities represent a vision of urban life where technology is harnessed to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and the quality of life for residents. At the heart of this vision lies Digital Transformation, which entails the integration of digital technologies into all aspects of city life, from infrastructure and governance to public services and citizen engagement. Examining the integration of technologies; Internet of Things (IoT), Acceleration of Urbanization, Urban agriculutre, 5G Connectivity, Renewable Energy and Energy Management, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics, Waste Management.

Jeannice Fairrer Samani is the CEO at Fairrer Samani Group, a global consulting firm that integrates business and information technology engineering, and the founder of the STEM education initiative “Fifth Wave.”  Her areas of expertise include Metaverse/Web3, artificial intelligence and machine learning, the Internet of Things, and smart cities.  Fairrer Samani taught engineering and business at Carnegie Mellon and Santa Clara universities, and has supported the U.S. Department of State’s TechWomen initiative.
